Thing #1

While watching this video clip I was thinking how much fun it would be to use technology in my classroom in these ways.  I teach computers at the Lower Elementary so I am using computers everyday.  I find that I use Microsoft Office for most of what I do and after watching this I wonder what I can do to expand on what I am currently doing.  In the younger grades the students do not have the cell phones (but what a fun assignment to text someone in a different country!) and I often think that podcasting would be fun, but more difficult to do with the technology I have available.

A goal for myself as I go through these ‘things’  is to really look at what I do and try to apply each to my lessons in the lab.  My students need to know basics about the computer, but there is so much out there that I also need to implement with new technology as well.

Glad to have a tech person in our building! The students love what you do and you are all ready teaching them so much! Just think about all the tech that was used when you did the Rainbow Fish with 1st grade!

I think that’s a very reasonable goal for you as you go through the class. There will be some tools that you won’t find useful at all for your situation/students but others that might be perfect.

Amy I love the fact that you actively seek out new ways for our students to intergrate their learning in all subject areas by using technology. Your great knowledge and creativeness bring out superb projects from our students. Our parents appeciate all the hard work and dedication you show also. We are lucky to have you on staff. Thanks!
