Auch’s Room 408

This week students participated in the “Cardinals Can” run for gym class.  Your student may have been collecting pledges for laps they will do on the track.   The money will be collected over the next week and turned in.  4th graders did an IMPRESSIVE amount of laps.  Our class had many students running between 4-6 miles Wednesday.  I imagine you heard about some of the aches and pains at home also.   What an awesome effort by students!

The Spring Picnic is Friday, May 18.  A slip went home regarding this last week.  Slips were due today for any family members planning on attending and eating at the picnic.  Food service might accept these Monday if you didn’t get it turned in by today.  Students have had this noted on their agenda most of the week.

Students will be performing with their recorders at the OV Fine Arts Festival on Saturday, Map 19.

We have begun Chapter 11 in math.  This chapter takes students from fractions to decimals.  The first half of the chapter focuses on number sense with decimals and addition/subtraction of decimals.  The second half is dealing with units of metric measure such as:  meters and liters. Now is a great time to talk about adding and subtracting money.

Students have begun studying Food Webs and Predator/ Prey relationships and habitats with Mr. Bayne.  In writing we are in the revision and editing phase of our Informational Writing and Research unit.

Information went home regarding the SMILE Dentist program for kids without dental insurance.  The Dentists will be here on May 23-24. Please turn in paperwork for this if the program could benefit your child.

May 25th there is a Professional Development day where staff has school but students do not.   No school on Memorial Day May 28th.
