Thing 10
The first thing I noticed was that I already had a picnik account! I’d just never actually used it. I have been uploading and editing photos for years, I just do it all on photobucket, snapfish and scrapblog.
The best thing I found when playing with picnik is that I could bring in my photos from photobucket instead of uploading directly, and since I had over 800 photos in photobucket already, it made it easy. I did also upload a couple directly from my computer just to see how fast it was. I also noticed that you could send the photos out to snapfish after editing, which is really nice since I use my snapfish to create calendars every year and give them as holiday gifts to family. I put my kids’ pictures in them, so it’s a fun way to keep people organized (I’m a math teacher, I live by my calendar)!
I was able to do some fun editing, but in the end I do appreciate the photobucket editing more. Photobucket gives you more options, but picnik is more user friendly, so it really is a trade-off. I’ll try to post pics from both. The first pic was edited today using picnik.

This picture was taken this summer, my baby was about 2 months old.

This is a pic of my 3 sons. It was taken when the youngest was only about 2 weeks old
I’ll also include the other pictures I edited, just for kicks (and to show off my family).

This is a picture that got honorable mention in a photo contest. Yes, that's a cloth diaper <3
I do like the sharpen feature, and the “teeth whiten” one… and I like the option to round the edges, but it seems to save it as just a square with white around the edges, which is kinda frustrating…
I do think this could be useful for students in creating presentations and such, but it is more of a personal thing– more for fun, less for education. But the reality is it would be a great break for kids, in the middle of their research, to work on their photos. I would certainly love to use it in the classroom. The linking capabilities are especially nice.
