Parents should look for 3rd Marking Period report cards to arrive on or just after Tuesday, March 30th. Please actively encourage your student to do his/her very best as we move toward the end of the 3rd Marking Period. Stay in touch with your student’s teachers; check into Parent Internet Viewer on a regular basis.
We are proud of the work being done by WayPoint students and staff as our MEAP results continue to show steady gains. We continue to make Annual Yearly Progress as determined by the Federal “No Child Left Behind” legislation. Our focus now is to continue to increase our Middle School mathematics achievement; results showed some need for improvement and we will focus on increasing our student achievement significantly.
Beginning on March 8th, WayPoint will be accepting applications from students wishing to attend the Academy next school year. Please contact Mrs. Chaney in the Main Office or call 231-777-4972 for an application packet. WayPoint…where students DO truly discover success!
Please note that Conferences will be held at the Academy on Friday, Feb 26th, from 5pm to 8pm. No appointments necessary. Please visit as you are able.
Parents are reminded that beginning on March 8th, “Open Enrollment” for students wishing to attend the Academy next school year will begin. If you have not already re-enrolled your student for next year, PLEASE DO SO RIGHT AWAY, to ensure that he/she has a spot for next year. Charter school law requires current student re-enrollment every year. Do not delay! Re-enroll your student TODAY! Contact Mrs. Chaney in the Main Office if you have any questions.
Seniors and their parents are strongly encouraged to attend to find out more about financial aid for college and how to complete the FAFSA Form. All who attend will be eligible for a drawing for an iPOD and a Dell laptop computer! A flyer is available on our website; will be held in MCC’s college campus library from 2pm to 4pm.
What a celebration we will have on Tuesday, Feb 9th, as we celebrate those students who passed ALL of their classes 1st semester! From throwing pies into Ms. Stellard’s face to raffles, competitions, prizes galore, we will celebrate student achievement and success! Thanks to Ms. Olson and Mr. Henry for organizing our celebration!
Second semester finds a number of new students joining the WayPoint “family”; we delight in our new additions. Let’s make this the BEST semester every!
As we approach the end of the first semester on January 22nd, we do have limited openings at some grade levels, primary the Middle School level. High school openings are sparse. Contact Mrs. Chaney for more information.
The State Legislature is set to meet today to consider the State budget for 2010-2011; with an estimate 1.8 billion dollar deficit, additional cuts to State Aid funding a real possibility. Stay tuned for more information as we are notified.
