Congratulations to the 2008 OEA Building A Better World Scholarship Winners – Dani Patton, Rebecca Houseman, Margarita Contreras. Listen to the students read their winning essays below.

For the first time ever we will award three $1000 scholarships. Thank you to all of you who donated to help us Build a Better World. We are still accepting donations for the 2008 award – winning dollar amounts are an estimate. All donors will be posted in an upcoming blog site.

*$1000 Global Awareness Winner – Rebecca Houseman

*$1000 Independent Travel Winner – Margarita Contreras
will attend Baker College in the Fall of 2009. She is traveling to Portland Oregon with her best friend Rebecca Houseman in July due in part to our scholarship. Listen to Margarita read her winning essay here.

OEA Building A Better World Scholarship is a grassroots locally funded scholarship for Oakridge graduating seniors. The Oakridge Education Association has recently joined with us to co-sponsor the scholarship, as has the Oakridge Alumni Association. We thank both groups for their generosity and consideration. In five years Building A Better World has provided 15 graduating Oakridge seniors with scholarships totaling over $9000.

The three categories of scholarships are 1 – Global Awareness 2 – Community Involvement 3 – Independent Travel

All graduating Oakridge Seniors are eligible to apply for the 2008 Building A Better World Scholarship. If you are interested please download the Scholarship Application form below and turn your completed essay (s) into the OHS Counseling office by May 1, 2008. Students may apply for one, two, or all three scholarships. If you would like to learn more or join with us and donate to Building A Better World Scholarship, please read.
