To learn more about Mr. Monfort, his cause, and our efforts please watch the music video, listen to our podcast, and print out the flyer below. Music is huge part of Haitian culture. Look and Listen here to find eight stories from NPR that deal with music, and with the Haitian people and their struggle to survive.
The ancient Greek playwright Aeschylus once wrote that there was a type of
suffering so intense that, even in our sleep, it bores into the heart until eventually, “in our own despair, against our will,” it taps into a terrible wisdom.

Do you really want to know about the suffering and hope that is going on down in Haiti? Read this story – from February 6, 2010 by Ian Urbina of the New York Times.
We would like to acknowledge the Muskegon Chapter of the American Red Cross for giving us permission to use their “red cross” for our T-shirts, Carrie Underwood for her rendition of “So Small”, and Ian Urbina of the New York Times for his February 6, 2010 story on Haiti and for his efforts in providing us a way to send our donations to Pierre-Louis Monfort in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

Simply grotesque conditions.
What is all the more upsetting is that two of my friends, one named Jake, claimed that they were sick of hearing about Haiti.
“We’re already sending them tons of money,” Jake had said. “And now they want even more.”
“Well, yeah,” I replied. “That’s because their capital was destroyed and their entire country, which was already mired in poverty, filth, and disease, is falling even more apart.”
“Well,” he smugly replied, sure of his correctness. “We have a lot of problems of our own in this country. We need to stop worrying about other countries and focus on our own.”
Yes… problems of our own. Like our entire population starving, a complete lack of infrastructure, the remnants of our crippled government squandering the aid dollars to line their own pockets, and so many prevalent diseases that it’s dangerous just to be around other people… but, you don’t have a choice because you have to live in a massive shanty town.
Simply repulsive ignorance out there.
This kind of ignorance actually exists, guys.
This article is so intense, and I think that the writer did an amazing job. I love quotes, so when he used that quote, especially since it was so fitting, it amazed me.
Dear Mr. Wood,
I am so happy to hear that you are still making a difference in this world. I would love to help and donate. I live in Texas now, but if you could give me an address and who I may write a check to, and give the T-shirt to someone that was not able to donate, but would like a shirt.
I was listening to the radio and heard that Haiti rasied $255 million, but they had only received $80 million of it. I thought that was weird and how could that happen. some supported the issue that they are saving some of the donations for the Red Cross and putting it away for future disasters. Just a thought for you.
Great hearing from you!! Savannah!
Thank you deary! That is soooo sweet. I am posting your message. That would be nice of you to join us. I hope life is good!
Hei Mr. Wood, I’d also like to donate. Just send me the address and I’ll write a check. I’ll also be participating in the fast on Thursday.

Caring for orphans, ransoming hostages, burying the dead-it’s all in a day’s work for Father Rick Frechette.

In the barbaric cave for the dead
Known in Creole as simply ‘mog’
My trembling hand blesses them
May the angels lead you far, far from here
And do so in all haste
You and this throng of dead that surround you
