- Students will understand map reading and what the symbols on a map represent.
- Students will understand early civilization of the Eastern Hemisphere.
- Students will be able to describe the human and physical characteristics of Europe, Russia, Africa, Southwest and Central Asia, Monsoon Asia, Oceania and Antarctica.
- Students will understand the purposes of Government in the Eastern Hemisphere.
- Students will understand business choices and uses of geography in planning for the future.
- Students will understand the importance of resources.
- Students will understand the different economic systems in the Eastern Hemisphere.
- Students will understand human migration.
- Students will understand the uses of geography.
Course Activities:·
Students will create maps using symbols showing the patterns of population, physical terrain, rainfall, and vegetation of the Eastern Hemisphere.
Students will create maps of individual countries in the Eastern Hemisphere and present them to the class.
Students will research and describe the characteristics of early civilization.
Students will research individual countries in the Eastern Hemisphere and report on the following: Human and physical characteristics of the country, Purposes of the government, Business choices, Uses of geography, Resources, Economic systems, Migration ~ who and why
These reports will be presented to the class orally.
· Write persuasive essays using the Core Democratic Values as the basis for their
argument.
