Twin Lake has Caring Kids

Filed under: Students, Families — Mrs. G. @ 3:18 pm

Every month Twin Lake Elementary has a “Caring Kids, Caring Community” Assembly.  We gather in a common meeting place and ‘Share Our Goodwill’. During this past year we have written cards to the Troops, collected food for families, cleaned around our campus,  and came up with many ideas to care about our community. We will be doing more activities throughout this school year. If you have any ideas you would like to share with us we would love to hear from you!

Update! In February our entire student body gathered in the gym and wrote Valentine Cards to the children in DeVos Children’s hospital!

Here is a list of books that I would highly recommend:

The Wonder of Boys - Michael Gurian

This book speaks to how boys think and learn from birth on. If you have a boy in your life, this is amazingly informational and helpful!

212 Degrees by Sam Parker & Mac Anderson

Inspirational and makes one think about how their role in life.

The Art and Science of Teaching by Robert Marzano

Excellent book for teachers in their reflection on teaching and learning.

Transforming Classroom Grading

A different way to think about grading students for mastery. Provides research and information regarding how we think about student’s progress in their learning.

Tell me about any good books you have read recently!
