- Have some fun! This time of the year at an elementary school it is all about the FUN.
This week at Beechnau over 500 children will participate in Fun Day; Tuesday May 25th. There will be over 19 stations of fun activities that involve physical skill, teamwork, water and maybe even getting their teacher wet or dirty! Who wouldn’t love that?? There are many field trips planned in the next week, and many memories to be made before moving on to the Middle School for the 4th and 5th graders. Soon it will be Summer, and the pace of the “hamster on the wheel” will slow down to long, sunny, warm days and evenings spent lazily watching fireflies and campfires. The students will once again be “bored”, wanting to see each other and the teachers will be recharged and eager to teach a new group of students. So this week, at Beechnau: Let there be some FUN!

Mrs. Burkall hops on a tractor at school for FFA Farm Days.
Even the teachers love when Mrs. Block and the FFA visit Beechnau Elementary for the day with their farm animals and tractors. Thank you to Mrs. Block and all the FFA students for your effort to make this day happen. I like to say I have my favorite days at work with the students and this day ranks right up there Homecoming, Halloween, and Fun Day.
Computer Classes: Grades 3-5: Garage Band
Students that went on the field trip to the Apple Store will be helping to teach the class all about making music this week. The students will work in small groups to make a song. When we get pretty good at it we will burn a CD, or save it to use with a slide show.
Grades K,1,2: Students will access a photograph and practice adding details with the painting tool. Great Fun!
PE: We played kickball as a class and move on to batting, t-ball, baseball/softball skills. If you have not taken the time to roll your child a ball to kick/bat, try it out! It is a great skill for them to accomplish and feel good about. When they get the hang of it 1-2 grade, try having them switch feet and kick/bat with the other foot or hand.
Ty Chopp runs the bases at Fifth Third Park in 2009.
Want to see it in action?? Go to a Varsity Baseball game in Ravenna and wait for Ty Chopp to get to the plate. He is a switch hitter who recently had a great game batting from both sides of the plate! GO DOGS!
