I am glad you have chosen to visit my blog. I hope you will get to know me a little more after reading my page. I was born and raised in Muskegon, Michigan. I attended Orchard View High School and graduated from Western Michigan University in 1999. I met my husband (Mr. Niklasch, PE Teacher at RPMS) my freshman year at Western Michigan University. We have a daughter named Irelyn and she is three years old.

I love sports and enjoy being active. I love to run, ski, cook, and watch the History Channel (of course!) My favorite thing to do is spend time with my daughter. Mr. Niklasch and I love to watch Irelyn participate in her activities. My dream is to travel around the globe and actually experience the places I teach about. I hope Mr. Niklasch is reading this and planning our retirement around my travel plans! Ha ha!!

I love teaching 7th grade geography. As our world becomes more global, the need for an understanding of people and their culture only intensifies. My class studies the regions of Europe, Africa, Australia, and Asia. Our study focuses on the geography, culture, and history of each region. My goal is for students to leave my class with a base of knowledge that allows one to understand and appreciate the complex cultures of our world. I also want my students to have a conceptual understanding of the current events that impact our world. An effective and informed citizen understands the implications of cultures in our world’s current conflicts.

As I work to instill knowledge and provide perspective about the world you live in, please come prepared to learn new ideas and concepts. I expect everyone of my students to give me their best effort and work to be their personal best! Learn all you can about the world and yourself, as the world continues to shrink and the competition for success continues to grow. As a Chinese Proverb states, “Teachers open the door. You enter by yourself.”
