Thing 23 Reflection

Snow by D Sharon Pruitt

Wow! I made it!
23 Things has taught me that the technology is changing so fast that if I don’t actively participate in some way or form, I will be left behind. I knew that I was novice at a lot of tools on the web, but I thought I knew enough [...]

Thing 22 Creating your own wiki

My Wiki: Room3wikipage
I just created one page on my wiki. It was easy. I want to add mash-ups to the page using spell flickr, but I am unable to get the pictures to show up on page. I will keep working on this.
The wiki process was very easy to do. Finding things to add to [...]

Thing 21 What is a Wiki?

Finally, I found out what wiki means. I have heard several individuals say to me and others, check my wiki. Wiki? I would think Wikipedia. Now, I know that I can create a wiki and feel a little less confused when someone says, check out my wiki.
I checked out a couple of wikis. I noticed [...]

Thing 19 Online Videos

I posted a comment on Dragonfly TVKids Do Science-Glo Germs.

Recently, we had the health department come into the classroom, and talk to students on the importance of handwashing.  This video would have been a great preteaching lesson to the health department visit.  I think it is kid friendly and informative.

When viewing voicethread, for the first time, I couldn’t stop laughing at the demonstration video of the voicethread creator’s family. I thought the mother was a hoot. After watching this voicethread I was hooked. I can see myself using voicethread in the classroom and in my private life. I want to take the [...]

Thing 17 Online Productivity Tools

I chose to explore Blabberize and 30 boxes. I reviewed all the choices and these were the only two that I found interesting.
Blabberize was fun to use. I uploaded a picture of a beach and had a lighthouse talking in the background. I really didn’t have a great photo to use here. So, I chose [...]

Thing 16 Copyright and Creative Commons

As a teacher I knew about copyright and copyright rules. Copyright rules and regulations are posted throughout my building and especially next to the copier. I do pay attention to teacher idea books that I purchase to see if I can copy materials throughout the book. However, I did not know anything about creative commons [...]

Thing 15 Itunes and Itunes U

My first podcast was from EPN, The Educational Podcast Network. I was able to listen to a podcast from a first grade boy. He wrote a story about an alien. The podcast was dated May 9, 2006. So not very current, but a nice example on how to have students compose a story and share [...]

Thing 14 Podcasting

I have used podcasting on my classroom blog in the past, and find podcasting to be fun.  I have had students sing a Christmas song, tell jokes, and tell a story on a podcast.
I enjoyed learning about others who use podcast.  My favorites so far are Radio WillowWeb and Long Elementary Student Podcast.  I like these two sites [...]
